Can you imagine my excitement when I saw it? I was talking to her about Karuta when Chihayafuru season 2 came out and i blabbered nonstop about my enthusiasm for the game and although I did mention that I want to buy the cards, i kinda forgotten about it and next thing I knew it was my 2013 christmas present!!

Isn't it pretty?!?!?!?!??!?!?! Since I don't know the 100 poems of Japan, I'm gonna buy the book first to understand the meaning before memorizing it hardcore and probably build my own mind palace to remember! I hope I actually manage to memorize 100 poems and fulfill my promise of visiting my friend in Tokyo and play a friendly match with her LOL. My dad was laughing at me when I said I was going to play with myself, my answer, to his qn: "Who are you going to play with?"
If you want to know more about Karuta, Mekashikuta @youtube was so kind enough to record NHK JAPAN's Sports Japan on Karuta and the other sports along with it. This was the 45th round of karuta championship in Kyoto, Japan. I watched it and I was amazed. Like Chihayafuru was really in a real world setting and how before the first syllabus is being read, the karuta master will swat the card away at lightning speed. JUST NO WORDS BUT APPLAUSE FOR HIM !!!! Sometimes manga and anime tend to exaggerate a bit because of its out-of-the-world context (take Prince of Tennis for example) but I'm quite glad that Chihayafuru stuck close to real-life.
This video is solely for fan purposes and in no way mine or used for profit!
wish me luck with my karuta!!!
