JDrama - Legal High

Title: Legal High
Season: 1
Episodes: 11
Language: Japanese
Genre: Law, comedy
Year of Broadcast: 2012

Of all the law related dramas inside and outside of the country, a majority of lawyers are depicted as heroes, either bringing tears to your eyes helping the weak underdog, or trying to advocate justice to the extreme. This has led the general public to view lawyers with eyes of respect and envy.
However, the main character of "Legal High!!" stands miles away from that stereotypical identity of a lawyer. Komikado Kensuke is stubborn, abusive in his language, sarcastic, moody, and an extravagant spender. To the contrary, he has never lost a case in his life. A genius at bargaining and building strategy, winning is everything to Kensuke. His love for money, fame, and women obviously collects the dislikes of other professionals in the field. Kensuke loathes the textbook of justice the young lawyers try to brandish.
Unexpectedly, Mayuzumi Machiko is a lawyer who passed her bar exam through hard studies. She is overly earnest in her mission of saving the weak, and rather clumsy and incapable of planning ahead. Her lack of versatility and strong righteousness drives her reckless, without compromise to her convictions. Passionate and determined, she is the complete opposite of Kensuke's character.
"Justice is the winner," Kensuke stands by this belief without doubt. Despite the skepticism he receives for his sensational efforts, the people surrounding him begin to see that their view was but a pipe dream. In the courtroom, Kensuke reminds us of the feeling we had all forgotten: To fight with all our energy and to never give up. --Fuji TV (extracted from wiki-drama)

Legal high is a drama that got me hooked as soon as I was 5 minutes into the show simply because Komikado-sensei's eccentric behavior got me swooned. It has been so long since I last got into jdrama and now that I have finally some time to spare, I dedicated a week to this drama and now I am done, waiting for the second season to start in October.

Plot
Usually law shows are all typically strict, formal, and boring, but you don't see that happening in Legal High. Maybe it's because of the characters involved and as soon as I saw Namase Katsuhisa acting as the antagonist, Miki-sensei, I was like "OKAY THIS IS IT. DEFINITELY GOING TO BE COMICAL. We all probably know Namase's most famous role as Gokusen's Sawatari Goro, the vice-principal and although his role as a lawyer now should be more "Fierce", nope, not seeing that happening at all.

The storyline in this definitely does not include any romance (thank god) but it does cover a variety of cases from family to business. The impression I got when I watched Legal High was "OH DEAR, ISN'T THIS ACE ATTORNEY DRAMA-ISH VERSION?" Although it's nothing like AA because Komikado uses dirty tricks to win his cases, the way he performs during court trials is enough to win hands down. His assistant Mayuzumi Machiko played by Aragaki Yui (SO PRETTY) wasn't helpful at all because she is those type of person who overlooks details, is very honest and innocent.

While watching this show i was hoping there is some character development for Komikado but no, not much. Still, I was glad that they didn't put in any romance to this show at all and it was hilarious to watch all the people that hate Komikado to go against him during court trials.

Music
I. JUST. LOVE. THE. BASS. SLAPPING. and then "LEGAL HIGH!"

The theme song is megami no kiss by PES from RIP SLYME and this song was just equally awesome~ I feel like I am in those cool bars chilling... thinking about how sad my life is...

After this would be the opening song of Legal High. Erepyon by Ono Erena
This is my favourite all time opening song after Galileo's!!

JUST LOVE THE OST -SCREAMS-

Characters
KOMIKADO KENSUKE - He is the most eccentric character that I have ever watched and can rival against Sherlock's behavior except komikado doesn't do investigation but present dirty facts in trials. He is also the most childish character probably because he doesn't have a good childhood as his father disowned him at 10. Although his child-like character is very annoying, he still brings justice to people that employs him. Also, he hates anything to do with traditional japanese. oh yes, his hair is very irritating seeing how it's always sickly gel-ed against his face and that nasty grin of his whenever he wins in bullying.

MAYUZUMI MACHIKO - I must say ARAGAKI YUI IS SO DAMN PRETTY OMG!! This character is the most innocent and honest one in the drama, and also the most emotional character. She puts in 101% in whatever she does but Komikado always looks down on her but gains support from Hattori, Komikado's "butler".

HATTORI - this is serious business. Hattori makes the best food in all the dramas that I have seen and you just want to pounce on to the TV and lick those delicious food. The western food and desserts he makes are just so mouth-watering. It kind of reminds of hannibal at some point (this is what hannibal does to you after you watch him handle food - MINDFUCKED) . Someday I hope they can cover his story too.

RANMARU - taguchi is soooooooooo adorable. He plays the shady spy or what he calls himself a ninja. Komikado employs him to do dirty spying for him and that is one of the way that leads Komikado to victory.

Although I was happy that there was no romance in this, I am still hoping that there maybe a bit of budding love between Komikado and Mayuzumi~~ CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THE SPECIAL EPISODE~ :D
it's a pity i cant find any gif
